The Sanctuary Baptist Church meets in the Burnside RSL Hall at 13 Beatty Street, Linden Park, South Australia, 5065 [map is at http://www.users.on.net/mec/map.jpg]. We have a variety of church activities to suit people of all ages and interests - including AWANA, music, outreach and radio broadcasting. The word "Sanctuary" in the church name is derived from Psalm 96:6b ("strength and beauty are in His sanctuary") and if you happen to visit our church, you will see this for yourself.

Pastor Neil Aitchison [picture is at http://www.users.on.net/mec/picture.htm] has been the pastor of Sanctuary Baptist Church since it was first incorporated in November, 2001. He is 39 years old, single and was raised on a sheep farm at a town called Keith in the South-East of South Australia. He attended the Clarence Valley Baptist Bible College in Grafton, New South Wales where he acquired a Diploma in Theology and then studied at the Australian Bible Seminary in Sydney, NSW. His sending church is Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Piper. He is also the manager of a piano shop [see http://www.users.on.net/mec/lpianos.htm] and a power company [see http://www.users.on.net/mec/tree.html].

Outreach is conducted after most meetings for approximately one hour. The two most common types of outreach are placing gospel tracts in letter boxes and street witnessing (ie. handing out leaflets and talking to people on the streets). In conjunction with Pastor Andrew Craig from "Church 4 You", we have used a loud speaker for street preaching, but this is not very effective here in Adelaide. Also, door knocking has mixed responses - so we are selective how and when we do it.

Evangelist Fraser Young visited our church in 2004 and held a number of meetings. We found his personality and preaching style to be perfect for our church people - we definitely want him back! The Gospel Light radio program broadcast live on 99.7 WOWFM was a ministry of Lighthouse Baptist Church run by Pastor Liam Luz with Pastor Neil Aitchison as a second host - it was a great success [see pictures at http://www.users.on.net/mec/picture3.htm]. A new radio program to be run exclusively by Sanctuary Baptist Church will commence soon on Adelaide's 88.7 CoastFM. For more information about this and other activities by Sanctuary Baptist Church - please go to http://www.users.on.net/mec/evangelical/programs/ .

Our AWANA youth program has been very effective and it has attracted young people from all backgrounds and circumstances. Many of the young people have come from family break-ups and domestic abuse situations so there can be difficultes maintaining discipline - but by God's grace, we have seen most change their lives around. We have held a camp at Mylor (near Adelaide) and travelled to Mt Selwyn for a snow trip. We use three, 12-seater buses which can be expensive to run, but it assists many people who want to attend our church but don't have their own transportation.

The regular weekly activities for our church are:

Sunday:  10am Service, Afternoon Activity*, 6pm Service*.

Wednesday: 6:15pm Youth Study, 7pm Adult Study.

Friday: 3pm Ladies Meeting*, 7pm Young Adults Group*.

Saturday: 3pm AWANA, Evening Outing*.

* these meetings may not be at the Burnside RSL Hall, so please check before attending by phoning 0410 725792 or  email sanctuary@adelaide.on.net .
